Resurrect / Deathrattle
Plan which minions can return and what their deaths provide. Learn how Deathrattle and resurrection decks manage space, setup, and enemy answers.
These decks use deaths or returning minions to gain attacks, removal, or more cards. A board with several layers can demand more answers than the enemy has.
Deathrattle and resurrection are different. A Deathrattle deck need not bring minions back. A returning minion need not have Deathrattle.
Know what can come back
Read the return effect. Cost, minion type, past deaths, and other rules may limit its choices. Adding another allowed minion can make your preferred return less likely, even if that minion is useful alone.
A minion summoned by a return effect does not normally trigger its Battlecry.
Count space before several deaths or returns. You have seven board spaces. Later summons can fail if earlier ones fill them. Trade in an order that leaves room for the minions you want.
Reborn brings back a new minion under its own rules. Do not expect it to keep normal buffs or old damage. Silence or transform before death can stop the Deathrattle you wanted.
Strengths and weak spots
Layered boards are strong against answers that remove only the first minion. Silence, transform, and effects that block a death or return can stop the plan.
Keep enough early defense instead of adding every exciting late effect. You also need a plan if the enemy leaves a harmless Deathrattle minion alone.
To build synergy groups, check which minions fit the return effect and how each one helps before it dies.
