Choose good trades and know when to attack face
Attack minions when it helps your plan. Attack the enemy hero when damage brings you closer to a safe win.
What makes a good trade?
A trade is an attack between minions. A useful trade may remove a threat while keeping your minion alive.
For example, your 3/3 can attack an enemy 2/2. Your minion lives as a 3/1. That may be good, but even one damage can now kill it.
Look past the trade itself. Did you stop a buff? Protect a stronger minion? Leave a weak minion that will die for little cost?
Reasons to trade
- Stop damage that would repeat on later turns.
- Remove a minion with a useful ongoing effect.
- Keep your best minion safe.
- Break up a group of cards that work well together.
- Stop the enemy from choosing a better trade next turn.
Reasons to attack the hero
Hero damage may set up a clear win. It can also be needed when you will lose a long game.
You do not have to send every attack to the same place. Remove the one threat that matters, then send the rest at the hero.
Think two turns ahead
Giving up three hero damage now may save two future attacks from a minion. That trade can lead to more damage overall.
When you have enough damage to win right now, check the full order and take the win.
